International University of Northern Cyprus, Girne American University, plans to open a new department of astrophysics and space science. The University is in talks on cooperation with the Astrophysical Institute in Kazakhstan.
Rector of the University, Serhat Akpinar: "We want to introduce a new department of astrophysics and space research at our university, and plan to bring state-of-the-art telescope from Germany. Only three telescopes of this level exist in the world. The telescope will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our professors and students can watch the star systems, galaxies and interplanetary activity "
