The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) awarded Karpaz Gate Marina with "Golden Anchor". The port has become the first in North Cyprus to receive 5 star Golden Anchor rating. The harbor, which is located in the settlement of Yeni Erenköy of Karpaz area, and has an area 18,000 square meters, was opened in 2011 and holds a 300 berths for yachts ranging in size from 5 to 55 meters. Expert of the Yacht Harbour Association Murat Tuncer, said that the port is ideally located in the heart of the Karpaz, with easy access to the "crystal waters, pristine villages and secluded beaches." Top award sets strict requirements which include an extensive study by experts of the association, to test services. The Association has studied the port services, fuel storage and waste management, infrastructure, personnel training, as well as the appearance of the port. To achieve the category of 5 stars a marina needs to have 24/7 services, including Internet access, security of the territory, information center, repair and maintenance of boats. The award is valid for three.
