According to some estimates, the population of Northern Cyprus has increased by 33.70 percent. The last official census of the population of Northern Cyprus was carried out on December 4, 2011, when it was found that 286,257 people live in the north. In 2021, the TRNC Institute of Statistics estimated that the population of TRNC is 382,836 people.
Southern Cyprus
In comparison, the population growth in the south of Cyprus, according to the official census, was 9.9 percent in 2021, although the population of the south was higher compared to 840,407 according to the 2011 census. At the 2021 census, this figure increased to 923,272.
Third country nationals
The publishing house Yeniduzen has collected figures reflected in public opinion regarding the possible population of Northern Cyprus. According to the latest Greek Cypriot press reports, "at least 50,000 Russians, 15,000 Iranians and 140,000 citizens of the Republic of Turkey" live in the north. This gives approximately 583,586 people, including the official estimate.
As of June 25, 2023, the number of voters in Northern Cyprus was 210,121.
However, according to telecommunications data, the number of active subscribers in the TRNC is 777,714. (Although there are thousands of student subscribers that could be included in this number)
