Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades said that Turkish Cypriot side is evading from the joint statement. Mr. Anastasiades also said he would no longer meet with President of TRNC Dervis Eroglu until the joint statement will be agreed on. Making the announcement during a national council, the president also said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to visit South Cyprus to discuss prospects of cooperation with the country.
According to the newspaper of Southern Cyprus, Fileleftheros, Anastasiades , indicated that efforts to solve the Cyprus problem will continue in the background , but the actual negotiations between the parties will not start soon . Mr. Anastasiades explained to international governments that he insists on a joint declaration, and will not start negotiations without it.
